Erin Andrews files multi-million lawsuit over peephole

Posted by Johan

Erin Andrews wants her stalker and a hotel to pay for violating her privacy through a peephole.

Erin Andrews sues her stalkerESPN sports reporter Erin Andrews isn’t going to let the man who filmed her nude get away with his crime without paying. The gorgeous reporter filed a $6-million-dollar lawsuit against Nashville's West End Marriott and $4 million from videographer Michael Barrett for the 2008 incident.

Barrett was convicted of filming a nude Andrews through a peephole in her hotel room door. He then posted the footage on the web. At the time, many blasted Andrews for concocting the story for press, something she vehemently denied before Barrett was arrested.

"I'm being victimized every day... and I did nothing to deserve it," Andrews said at his 2010 sentencing. He pled guilty to stalking the former Dancing With the Stars contestant and was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison. Prosecutors said he traveled to three different cities in pursuit of Andrews.

The lawsuit alleges that the hotel was negligent for allowing the filming to happen. She wrote that the images and video caused her "great emotional distress and embarrassment" to this day.

"Unfortunately we do not comment on pending litigation," Jeff Flaherty, Marriott's director of public relations, told Reuters.

Andrews opened up about the incident in a July 2011 interview with Marie Claire.

"It was awful. He ended up walking in right in front of us, and I started to hyperventilate. I looked at my dad and was like, 'I can't breathe.' My dad was a rock. I had these notes, and he goes, 'Look down and concentrate on your notes.' I looked down, and you could just hear teardrops hitting my paper. And it was funny, for a guy who stood behind a door and took this video of me and stalked me, he didn't look at me once in court. He couldn't look at me," she said in the interview.

"At the sentencing in March, the judge let me speak to him. I got so nervous and geeked up that my heel got caught in the carpet on the way to the podium, and I almost fell on my face. Then I started telling him what he'd done to my life. I yelled, 'You're going to go to jail for how many years, but I'll never get this off the internet -- I'll have to explain it to my future husband and my kids!'"

We're behind Andrews with this lawsuit -- hopefully it shows stalkers and other rabble-rousers that they cannot get away with violence, even if the target is a public figure.

Alec Baldwin's fake-out apology to American Airlines

Posted by Johan

Alec Baldwin says he's sorry for inconveniencing the other passengers on his American Airlines flight -- but is he sorry for what got him kicked off in the first place?

Alec BaldwinYou gotta love Alec Baldwin. Only this elegant curmudgeon could get away with penning a 555-word apology that's no apology at all.

Baldwin posted his fake-out mea culpa on the Huffington Post, but his apology was only to the fellow passengers on the flight he was booted from for not turning off his phone. The rest of his very wordy explanation was to rip the airline to shreds -- in the most eloquent way possible, of course.

"First off, I would like to apologize to the other passengers onboard the American Airlines flight that I was thrown off of yesterday. It was never my intention to inconvenience anyone with my 'issue' with a certain flight attendant," Baldwin wrote on TheHuffingtonPost.com.

"I suppose a part of my frustration lay with the fact that I had flown American for over 20 years and was brand loyal, in the extreme. The ticketing agents and Admiral's Club staff have always been nothing but abundantly helpful to me, as I have flown hundreds of thousands of miles with the one carrier."

Alec Baldwin outraged over Troy Davis execution >>

"My confusion began when the flight, already a half hour behind schedule, boarded, the door closed, and we proceeded to sit at the gate for another fifteen minutes. I then did what I have nearly always done and that was to pull out my phone to complete any other messaging I had to do before take off. In nearly all other instances, the flight attendants seemed to be unbothered by and said nothing about such activity, by me or anyone else, until we actually were pulling away from the gate."

"In this case, while other people were still manipulating their own phones, this one employee singled me out to put my phone away. Afterward, we still sat at the gate. I pulled out my phone again, while others did the same. Again, I was singled out by this woman in the most unpleasant of tones. I guess the fact that this woman, who had decided to make some example of me, while everyone else was left undisturbed, did get the better of me."

Alec Baldwin rips Emmys over joke flap >>

"However, I have learned a valuable lesson. Airlines in the U.S. are struggling with fuel costs, labor costs, bankruptcies, you name it. It's no secret that the level of service on U.S. carriers has deteriorated to a point that would make Howard Hughes red-faced. Filthy planes, barely edible meals, cuts in jet service to less-traveled locations. One of the big changes, in my time, is in the increase of the post-9/11, paramilitary bearing of much of the air travel business. September 11th was a horrific day in the airline industry, yet in the wake of that event, I believe carriers and airports have used that as an excuse to make the air travel experience as inelegant as possible."

"Most of the flight attendants I have ever encountered still have some remnant of the old idea of service. Add to that the notion that in this day and age, many people have a lot of important work to do, by phone, and would like to do so till the last possible minute. But there are many now who walk the aisles of an airplane with a whistle around their neck and a clipboard in their hands and they have made flying a Greyhound bus experience."

Alec Baldwin breaks SNL hosting record >>

"The lesson I've learned is to keep my phone off when the 1950′s gym teacher is on duty. That was my fault there, even though this trip was quite a bit different from so many others. But it is sad, I think, that you've got to fly overseas today in order to bring back what has been thrown overboard by U.S. carriers in terms of common sense, style and service."

"Again, my apology to my fellow travelers."

Zing! Baldwin's scathing testimonial is no doubt in direct response to American Airline's statement on the matter released earlier today.

Career trumps love in The Five Year Engagement trailer

Posted by Johan

Universal has released the first trailer for the Jason Segel and Emily Blunt comedy The Five-Year Engagement. The film centers on a happy young couple whose wedding plans hit the skids.

The Five-Year EngagementLove's a powerful thing, but even it has its limits. In the upcoming comedy The Five-Year Engagement, Jason Segel and Emily Blunt desperately want to get married. Unfortunately, career, friends and relatives consistently get in their way.

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for The Five-Year Engagement, which follows unlucky lovebirds Tom and Victoria . After Tom proposes to his longtime girlfriend, he's more than ready to take the walk down the aisle. But Victoria's rising career derails their wedding by two, four and eventually five years.

The Five-Year Engagement is directed by Nicholas Stoller, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Segel. The duo previously worked together on this year's The Muppets as well as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek. Aside from Segel and Blunt, The Five-Year Engagement features plenty of familiar faces like Oscar-nominee Jacki Weaver , Chris Pratt , Alison Brie and Rhys Ifans .

Jason Segel currently stars on the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, which airs Monday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Aside from The Five-Year Engagement, next year he'll appear in the Judd Apatow comedy This is Forty, which is a loose spin-off of 2007's Knocked Up.

Before landing her role as Victoria, Emily Blunt worked with Stoller and Segel in 2010's Gulliver's Travels and last month's The Muppets. She's currently filming the dramedy Arthur Newman, Golf Pro opposite Oscar-winner Colin Firth and Anne Heche.

Celebrity Apprentice star Rod Blagojevich gets 14 years

Posted by Johan

Former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich is going to prison for 14 years after being convicted of corruption charges.

Rod Blagojevich is going to prisonFormer Celebrity Apprentice star Rod Blagojevich is trading three-piece suits for prison blues after receiving a 14-year sentence for corruption. The former Illinois governor tried to sell Barack Obama's Senate seat after he was elected president in 2008.

He begged for lenience in his sentencing, but said he had to "be strong" and accept responsibility. "I caused it all, I’m not blaming anybody," Blagojevich said. "I was the governor and I should have known better and I am just so incredibly sorry."

"Whatever good things you did for people as governor, and you did some, I am more concerned with the occasions when you wanted to use your powers... to do things that were only good for yourself," U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel during sentencing.

"When it is the governor who goes bad, the fabric of Illinois is torn and disfigured and not easily repaired," Zagel added. Blagojevich is the fourth Illinois governor to be sentenced to prison within the past four decades. His predecessor, George Ryan, is currently is serving 6 1/2 years in an Indiana federal prison for corruption.

The sentence -- though long -- is not what prosecutors wanted. He faced 15-20 years in federal prison for his 17 convictions. "In numerous recorded conversations, Blagojevich can be heard directing the criminal activity," they wrote in court documents. He stood to earn at least $1.6 million for Obama's Senate seat, though defense attorneys argue he didn't receive a penny.

Blagojevich juror tried an Oprah excuse to get out of trial >>

"The current situation for his family is dire," the defense wrote to the judge before sentencing. "He has lost his career and reputation. His family is close to bankruptcy. He has suffered every kind of public ridicule and humiliation."

There's one bright spot for the former politician, though: He won't spend the holidays in jail -- he's not scheduled to start his sentence until mid-February.

Hope 14 years in the pen is worth getting on Celebrity Apprentice.

Oops! Lindsay Lohan Playboy cover leaked

Posted by Johan

Lindsay Lohan is certainly nude on her upcoming Playboy magazine cover. How good does she look?

Lindsay Lohan's Playboy cover leaked on webMerry Christmas, Lindsay Lohan fans! The starlet's Playboy cover was leaked on the web Wednesday afternoon -- and it looks pretty legit!

In the photo, a blonde Lohan sits backwards on a Playboy bunny-shaped chair -- and the bunny's ears strategically hide the troubled actress' naughty bits. She's not completely nude, either -- we see she's wearing a pair of black stilettos!

Overall, we're impressed.

We'll have to wait until next week to see the rest of the pictorial, which is said to be "very classy" and shows off all of Lohan's body. She's set to officially debut the cover on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show, according to her rep.

"Lindsay has agreed to do one media interview during the on-sale period of her issue, and has chosen Ellen. Lindsay will not be doing any additional interviews to promote her pictorial," her publicist said in a statement.

Her nude body isn't the only thing we're discovering about the 25-year-old -- recently unearthed diaries reveal that she was in love with Heath Ledger in the weeks before he died from a sleeping pill overdose.

"He taught me so much, and he was everything I've ever wanted and more. I want to hear him laugh and hold me. I crave his touch and care," she wrote in the entry dated the day of Ledger's February 2008 death.

"When a person dies the world stops. I'm numb. There's an emptiness. And a desire to feel loved. A need to be held in the arms of someone who understands. But what do you do when the one who understands is gone?"

We wonder how she feels about being exposed -- in more ways than one.

Wedding bells are ringing for Sinead O'Connor

Posted by Johan

It looks like someone found her "very sweet sex-starved man!" Irish singing star Sinead O'Connor -- a three-time divorcee -- hopes four is her lucky number as she prepares to marry therapist Barry Herridge. The couple will to tie the knot in a quiet ceremony on Thursday, which is also O'Connor's birthday.

Sinead O'ConnorWedding bells are ringing for Sinead O'Connor -- again!

The "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer hit her personal blog on Wednesday to announce that she'll say "I do" to beau Barry Herridge on Thursday -- which just happens to be the star's 45th birthday.

"With enormous joy myself and my beloved boyfriend Barry Herridge will be getting married tomorrow, Dec. 8 2011 at 'an un-disclosed location' in my absolute dream wedding ceremony," O'Connor wrote Wednesday.

She added: "We will post a photo or two here on the site as soon as possible afterward. Very happy girl. : ):

The marriage will be the fourth for the Irish-born '80s hitmaker, who is also the mother of four.

Sinead married music producer John Reynolds in 1989 and journalist Nicholas Sommerlad in 2001. Her divorce from longtime friend and collaborator Steve Cooney was finalized in April, following just eight months of marriage.

Sinead O'Connor's new look >>

Irish glossies describe Herridge as a "children's addiction counselor." No word, however, on the particulars of how the couple met.

Sinead was seemingly single as recently as August. That's when the outspoken musician penned a racy blog launching a search for a “very sweet sex-starved man."

"Extremely sweet, kind, very respectful, considerate but absolutely FILTHY minded," O'Connor wrote of her dream guy at the time.

Well... at least she's honest.

But it wouldn't be the last time online media would get the outspoken Sinead into the headlines.

In September, fans became concerned for the safety of the "I Want Your " songstress after she posted a series of suicidal messages on her now-defunct Twitter page.

Sinead later assured fans she had no plans to take her own life and wrote an open letter discouraging suicide.

“People who express suicidal feelings are least likely to act on them. Anyone who gives u the remotest bit of sh*t for expressing suicidal feelings is a wanker."

In news that should surprise absolutely no one, Sinead has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

New sex abuse charges for Jerry Sandusky

Posted by Johan

Former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested on Wednesday for two new sex abuse charges.

The child molestation case against former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky gets more disgusting and sinister by the day. The disgraced coach was arrested Wednesday morning after two more victims came forward with their tales of abuse.

Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky arrested again for sex abuse

Sandusky's new charges revolved around two more boys who said they were abused after meeting the coach through his Second Mile charity. One victim -- now an adult -- alleges that the coach met the boys and asked for their phone numbers. Sandusky later gained his parents' permission to mentor him and took him to his home. The victim painted a chilling portrait, claiming that the coach kept him in the basement for entire weekends and forcibly raped him.

Ashton Kutcher blasted for Joe Paterno tweet >>

He said he cried out for help, hoping Sandusky's wife, Dottie, would hear them. She never came downstairs. The other victim said the coach brought him to his Pennsylvania home and performed oral sex on him, among other sex acts.

The two new charges come after the retired coach was charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse on Nov. 5. He was free on bond, but is now in jail on another $250,000 bond.

More on celebrity justice >>

Hopefully he'll stay there so he cannot give more skin-crawling interviews. Sandusky tried to explain his case to reporter Bob Costas during a phone interview after his first arrest, saying that he "enjoys young people."

He gave another interview to the New York Times last week.

"They've taken everything that I ever did for any young person and twisted it to say that my motives were sexual or whatever," he told the Times. "I had kid after kid after kid who might say I was a father figure. And they just twisted that all."

However, his words seemed to indicate something else. "I think a lot of the kids really reached out for that," he said of their roughhousing and wrestling.

"I miss coaching," he added. "I miss Second Mile. I miss Second Mile kids. I miss interrelationships with all kinds of people."

Tips to get organized for the holidays

Posted by Johan

The holidays can be hectic and overwhelming at times. However, if you manage your activities and your time properly, you can have a peaceful and enjoyable holiday season. Follow these tips to get and stay organized.

get organized for the holidays

Make a holiday task list

Start by creating a master to-do list with everything you need and want to get done over the next several weeks. Use whatever system works for you, whether that's an online calendaring program, a voice-activated system on your smartphone or a large wipe-off calendar in your kitchen. Items you might want to include in your holiday task list include:

  • Christmas card list
  • Church events
  • Decorations
  • Gift shopping
  • Party planning
  • School activities
  • Travel plans

Once you have created a main list of tasks, break each one down into smaller pieces and place deadlines for each piece on your calendar. Give yourself plenty of time in case you run into any snags along the way.

Check out these organizers and calendars for moms >>

Maintain your focus

Don't get overwhelmed this holiday season. You don't have to say yes to every invitation. Maintain your focus and stick to events and activities that are meaningful to you and your family. Enlist the help of your hubby and kids to keep the house as neat and organized as possible. Don't sweat the small stuff -- it really doesn't matter if you haven't swept out the pantry or dusted the blinds this week.

Delegate some of the tasks on your to-do list to those who are willing to help. For example, it might be worth it to you to pay the teen who lives up the street $50 to do all your gift wrapping. Also, be sure to take time out for yourself. The holidays aren't intended to be about a bunch of stress and obligations -- you are supposed to enjoy them.

Read about how to help your family reduce holiday stress >>

Create a command center

Organizational expert, fashionista and author of Lists for Life, Rory Tahari offers these helpful tips to get organized this holiday season. Tahari recommends creating a centralized command center in your home to manage all the activities.

  • Choose an area in your home that can be a designated command center. Pick any space that works for you, whether it is a home office or just a small corner in your family kitchen.
  • When it comes to arming your space, less is more. Don’t clutter your area with unnecessary items and instead, opt for fewer items that promote productivity and efficiency.
  • Manage all of your family’s after-school activities, sports games and holiday parties in one centralized calendar. Assign an area for each member of the family so that everyone can take a look back at the calendar for a quick reminder.
  • With all of the coming and going at different times in my family, Tahari and her family often communicate through Post-it® Notes. Leave the kids friendly reminders, create holiday shopping lists and jot down phone messages on Post-it® Notes. They have a set space where they stick their notes. Tahari says the Pebble Collection by Karim is sleek and she loves that it blends in with her home decor.
  • Tahari dislikes loose papers lying around, so she have a filing system for bills, receipts and even the kids’ school work. She assigns Post-it® Pockets for each family member. They stick conveniently to almost any surface and are suitable for any location.
  • Tahari could not live without her scanner. When she's finished with any paperwork, she scans each document before it can be recycled.

Hey Jennifer Aniston: Brad Pitt's kids think he's very uncool, too

Posted by Johan

Angelina Jolie says her kids with Brad Pitt think they are the most uncool people ever, but at least one of their movies has earned them some points.

Turns out Jennifer Aniston isn't the only one who thinks Brad Pitt is very uncool. His kids with Angelina Jolie don't think he is such a big deal, either.

Angelina Jolie Brad Pitt

While promoting her new film In the Land of Blood and Honey -- marking her directorial debut -- Angelina Jolie said her and Pitt's kids are not all that impressed with the fame and accomplishments of their parents.

"I've scored some points at home because of Kung Fu Panda," Jolie revealed to The Hollywood Reporter. "They love Tigress, who is my alternate personality. Otherwise, they think Brad [Pitt] and I are just so not cool."

Angelina Jolie says kids want wedding for "the big cake" >>

Jolie says the storyline of the kiddie flick really hits home with her kids due to the adoption theme. In the movie, Po the panda searches for his birth parents after being raised by a goose.

"It is a truly great movie, and I love when my children watch it because I know it's teaching them great things," she said. "It's especially relevant to my family because of the adoption."

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have six children together: Maddox, Zahara and Pax, adopted from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam respectively, and their biological kids Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. The couple has not ruled out adding to their family but say they have no immediate plans to do so.

Fun (and wacky!) celebrity holiday traditions

Posted by Johan

From the Kardashians to Jennifer Aniston, check out the fun, thoughtful and somewhat wacky holiday traditions of our favorite celebrities.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have made Christmas a family affair because it is reportedly Pitt's favorite holiday. The jet-setting couple spent last year in France and had Pitt's entire family over to celebrate.  "They get a tree, lots of gifts and most importantly a really good chef since Angelina is hopeless in the kitchen," an insider revealed.

 Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

We love Jennifer Aniston's Christmas tradition in which she throws a tree-trimming party for all her girlfriends.  "I love the holidays. It's not a stressful time for me at all," she said.

Paris Hilton spends the holidays traveling to amazing destinations, of course. "Christmas is my favorite time of year," she told Radar Online last year. "We will be spending Christmas in Maui, then Cabo for New Year's. I can't wait!"

Actress Melissa Joan Hart gets into the holiday spirit by throwing an ugly holiday sweater party. All of her friends and family must wear the most obnoxious sweater they can find as they celebrate the holidays.

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher likes to make gingerbread houses and homemade gifts every year for Christmas, with the help of her daughters. "Homemade gifts are always the best. So what I love to do is make gingerbread houses and my little girl helps me. We give them away as gifts to family and friends. And for ourselves, we create a little Christmas town," she said.

White Collar actress Tiffani Thiessen was spotted taking pictures with Santa and her daughter Harper this year. Her favorite holiday tradition? "Family wearing matching pjs for Christmas morning and opening gifts," she said.

Tiffani Thiessen and Harper with Santa

Nicolas Cage took his family to Italy one year and he said he hoped that would be their Christmas tradition. "I'm going to have a Dickens Christmas. I'm going to take everyone to England. I've never done that. I'm going to just walk around Bath and see how they celebrate the holidays, because I've always fantasized about that," he said.

One of the Kardashian's biggest Christmas tradition is their annual over-the-top Christmas card. In addition to this, Kris Jenner throws a huge party on Christmas Eve with plenty of food, carolers, Santa and even little elves! On Christmas Eve night, they all wear matching pajamas and wake up early to open presents.

Jennifer Love Hewitt spends her holidays giving instead of receiving, by volunteering every year at the Los Angeles Mission to help feed the needy.

Kelsey Grammer said his holiday tradition has been passed down from his grandparents, "My granddad did the decorating and handed out the presents and spreading good cheer. After he died when I was 12, I took on the mantle of carrying on with the decorating and handing out the presents. Now with my family, we open a few presents on Christmas Eve, but in the old days, we didn't touch a thing until Christmas day."

You would think actress Brittany Snow would like the snow, but this Florida gal prefers to spend the holidays somewhere sunny.  "I love to go to the beach and make sand angels," she said.

Alec Baldwin goes silent on Twitter

Posted by Johan

Alec Baldwin decided to take a break from Twitter after a game of Words with Friends got him booted from an American Airlines flight.

Was Alec Baldwin's altercation with American Airlines the last nail in his social media coffin? It seems so. The frequent tweeter deleted his Twitter account on Tuesday night after returning to New York City.

Alec Baldwin closes his Twitter account

Baldwin, 53, changed his Twitter handle to @deactive001 and asked followers to stage a "mass unfollow." But not before repeatedly going off on the airline.

"No wonder American Air is bankrupt," he tweeted after the snafu. His rep tried to make light of the situation, telling People that "Alec was asked to leave the flight for playing Words with Friends while parked at the gate. He loves WWF so much that he was willing to leave a plane for it, but he has already boarded another AA flight."

However, American Airlines claims that it was the 30 Rock actor's own fault.

"Since an extremely vocal customer has publicly identified himself as being removed from an American Airlines flight on Tuesday, Dec. 6, we have elected to provide the actual facts of the matter as well as the FAA regulations which American, and all airlines, must enforce. Cell phones and electronic devices are allowed to be used while the aircraft is at the gate and the door is open for boarding," AA wrote on its Facebook page.

"This passenger declined to turn off his cell phone when asked to do so at the appropriate time. The passenger ultimately stood up and took his phone into the plane's lavatory. He slammed the lavatory door so hard, the cockpit crew heard it and became alarmed, even with the cockpit door closed and locked."

"They immediately contacted the cabin crew to check on the situation. The passenger was extremely rude to the crew, calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language. Given the facts above, the passenger was removed from the flight and denied boarding."

Sounds like the airline was definitely in the right with this one.

Still, Baldwin wasn't done sounding off on the flight attendants, also adding: "#theresalwaysunited Last flight w American. Where retired Catholic school gym teachers from the 1950's find jobs as flight attendants."

However, don't fret, Alec fans — he'll be back on Twitter.

"It's just on hold while he focuses on 30 Rock," his rep said.

Katherine Heigl: "I want people to like me"

Posted by Johan

Katherine Heigl reveals her personal struggle in the new issue of ELLE. Does that mean she's changing who she is? Nope!

Katherine Heigl wants to be likedNew Year's Eve star Katherine Heigl is fully aware that she's not thought of as the "girl next door" by movie fans. Instead, she's known for her on-set tantrums and other behavior that helped her gain a reputation as one of the "difficult" starlets.

However, Heigl doesn't want to be that girl — she wants people to like her.

"I'm just that a**hole who really wants everyone to like me, and it's a ridiculous goal and it's an impossible goal. But I think if I just keep pushing forward and showing myself through and through, they will see me again for who I really am and not what has been sort of spun about me," the adoptive mom tells ELLE in her January 2012 cover interview.

She does acknowledge that she doesn't fit the mold of what people might want — or expect — her to be.

"I've never really been America's sweetheart, but for a minute I think that's what they wanted me to be. And I had 'em for a second thinking maybe I was. And then I opened my mouth, and it was very clear I wasn't. There's so much of my mother's caustic, sarcastic, irreverent take on things. But I also love and embrace it," she said.

We love her unapologetic attitude. It's refreshing in an industry filled with perfect actresses with their perfect little lives — cough, Gwyneth Paltrow, cough — to see someone who isn't afraid to show her Type A personality.

And we don't think she's a b*tch — she just knows what she wants, a trait that she picked up from years of struggling in Hollywood.

"The first five or six years in L.A. were hard. I didn’t know anybody. You don’t meet people going on auditions, because everyone is competing. So it's not like you're gonna be like, 'Hey, what are you doing later? You wanna grab lunch?' So it was just me and [mom] Nancy. We watched a lot of Golden Girls, and we made dream journals and read The Artist's Way."

What do you think: Is Katherine Heigl just misunderstood?

Lindsay Lohan's so-called secret diaries revealed

Posted by Johan

A diary purporting to be that of Lindsay Lohan reveals the actress' devastation at the death of heath Ledger and her fears over her own drug use.

Lindsy Lohan

Was Lindsay Lohan in love with Heath Ledger when he died? A diary published by Star magazine, purporting to be that of the troubled starlet, says yes -- and that she was completely devastated by his death.

In the excerpts, which Star claims were written by Lohan, the star revealed the depth of her despair over Ledger's unexpected death in 2008.

Lindsay Lohan's Playboy pics on Ellen >>

"Today Heath died," the Jan. 22 entry reads. "I’m in love with him… He was the love of my life."

"He taught me so much, and he was everything I've ever wanted and more," the entry continues. "I want to hear him laugh and hold me. I crave his touch and care."

"When a person dies the world stops. I'm numb. There's an emptiness. And a desire to feel loved. A need to be held in the arms of someone who understands. But what do you do when the one who understands is gone?"

Lindsay Lohan would make "a great hooker" says Heidi Fleiss >>

Lohan had reportedly hooked up with Ledger in the weeks leading up to his death, but there were no reports in the press of any sort of grand romance between the two.

Ledger's death was attributed to an accidental overdose of sleeping pills, but the sad situation also brought his frequent drug use to light -- a bad habit Lohan knows all too well herself.

"It's like a game of Jenga, and when one piece slips, it all falls apart," reads the diary. "One pill, one slip and it goes down the slope, crashes and burns and it's over. Why? I ask myself over and over. Cry is all I can do."

Michelle Williams on Heath Ledger: "Our life has repaired itself" >>

"Heath is a prime example of what this industry can do to someone," the diary said in a Jan. 31 entry -- just over a week after Ledger's death.

"It craves to see someone fail. It brings enjoyment to us to watch one die. The tragedy and cravings for it can kill. And will."

Lohan is currently spending lots of time with dead people -- she is completing her court-ordered community service requirement at the LA County morgue.

M*A*S*H star Harry Morgan dead at 96

Posted by Johan

Everyone's favorite Colonel has died. Harry Morgan, who was best known for his role on TV's M*A*S*H, has passed away. He died on Dec. 7 at the respectable age of 96.

Famous character actor and Emmy-winner Harry Morgan has died. The TV legend, who appeared on such shows and M*A*S*H and Dragnet, passed away Wednesday morning at his Los Angeles home.

According to the New York Times, Morgan's death was confirmed by his son Charles. He revealed the actor had been battling a recent case of pneumonia. At the time of his death, Morgan was 96 years old and had lived a life most actor's dream of. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the child of Norwegian immigrants and had early ambitions to become a lawyer. But his focus quickly shifted to theater after attending the University of Chicago. He went on to make his Broadway debut in 1937 in the original production of Golden Boy, alongside Luther Adler, Karl Malden and Lee J. Cobb.

Karl Malden dies in 2009 >>

Over the course of his career, Morgan appeared in over 100 movies including The Ox-Bow Incident, State Fair and High Noon. But his big break came in television when he starred opposite Jack Webb in the revamped Dragnet. For four seasons, he played Officer Bill Gannon to Webb's Sgt. Joe Friday. When the show was cancelled in 1970, he appeared in several made-for-TV movies before landing his most famous role.

In 1974, Morgan starred in the Korean War-based comedy M*A*S*H as Colonel Sherman T. Potter. Thanks to his memorable performance, he was honored with a Primetime Emmy Award for best supporting actor in a comedy series.

Morgan was a consummate professional with an amazing gift. He was able to sustain his career because of his great work ethic and photographic memory. His son Charles revealed, "My dad would read a script the way somebody else would read Time magazine and put it down and be on the set the next day."

Morgan is survived by his wife Barbara Bushman and three sons: Charles, Christopher and Paul.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees: Who'd they miss?

Posted by Johan

The Beastie Boys and more are in this year, but there are others who should be. We take a look at who's missing and why they should also be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Bon Jovi

It's a happy day for the Beastie Boys, Donovan, Guns N' Roses, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Small Faces/Faces. They're the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2012, the Hall announced on Wednesday.

Blues Guitarist Freddie King was also inducted in the Early Influence category.

"We are pleased to announce this year's Hall of Fame inductees, who represent the broad spectrum of artists that define rock and roll," said Joel Peresman, president and CEO of the Hall in a statement.

The performers will be enshrined during the induction ceremony, which takes place April 14 in Cleveland, the home of the Rock Hall and will be broadcasted on HBO in early May.

We feel there should be a few more nominees. Below is our list of the top five acts who have been unfairly snubbed so far by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

Bon Jovi

Not only wasn't Bon Jovi inducted this year, they weren't even nominated. It's kind of ironic as the Jersey boys are one of the last real rock bands who are actually touring the world and playing to millions fans. And rocking them all, from what we've heard. The guys have lots of supporters -- several Jersey daily newspapers opined in editorials that Bon Jovi deserved Hall recognition this year. Maybe next year?

Donna Summer

If disco is an off-shoot of rock 'n' roll, and it is, then the Queen of Disco Donna Summer should be in the Hall. Her '70s and early '80s hits, including "Love to Love You, Baby," "I Feel Love," "Last Dance" and "MacArthur Park," framed the era like no other and brought a passion and sensuality to disco that was very rock 'n' roll.

Joan JettJoan Jett

Joan Jett may not care about her reputation, but we care to recognize the original Riot Grrrl's impact on rock 'n' roll, even if the Rock Hall doesn't. Jett, first with the Runaways and later as a the leader of the Blackhearts, set the mold for rocker girls everywhere and did so on her own terms. She became a superstar with hits like "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," "Do You Want to Touch Me" and "Bad Reputation." Oh, Kristen Stewart played Jett in the 2010 film The Runaways.

Chubby Checker

Philadelphia's Chubby Checker saved rock 'n' roll. How so? His 1960 smash "The Twist" brought a whole new fan base to the music: Adults. In nightclubs and living rooms in the early '60s, mom and dad joined their kids in dancing to rock 'n' roll in an era when rockers were few and far between. That changed when The Beatles came, but Checker's contribution to music should be recognized.

Salt-N-PepaSalt-N-Pepa

In our view, it's hard to undersell the significance of what Salt-N-Pepa did in the '80 and '90s. They were the first female hip-hop act to crossover into mainstream success. Their gal-positive hits like "Push It," "Shoop," "Whatta Man" and "Let's talk About Sex" showed the group to be on point, positive and definitely superstars. They even made the cover of Rolling Stone. What's the hold up, Cleveland?

Daniel Radcliffe crowned Entertainer of the Year

Posted by Johan

Entertainment Weekly has announced their pick for 2011's Entertainer of the Year. Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe snagged the title, despite stiff competition from fellow actor Ryan Gosling and British songstress Adele.

Daniel Radcliffe is the Entertainer of the Year

It's that special time again! Entertainment Weekly is releasing their annual Entertainers of the Year issue. This edition includes the biggest stars of 2011 including Adele, Hugh Jackman and top dog Daniel Radcliffe.

Radcliffe earned the coveted title of Entertainer of the Year thanks to the epic conclusion of the Harry Potter franchise, as well as his Broadway run in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. After growing up in front of our eyes, the actor's ready to tackle the next phase of his career. Radcliffe will appear in the upcoming thriller The Woman in Black, where he plays a young lawyer haunted by a ghostly client. The film opens in theaters Feb. 3.

EW's Entertainers of the Year issue highlights "the most talented and original performers." And the magazine came up with over 17 people and groups who fit that description. In an attempt to mix things up, EW roped in other celebrities and asked who they thought should make the list. Oscar-winner Julia Roberts revealed her love for Adele and her groundbreaking album 21, while Meryl Streep gushed over The Help star Viola Davis.

Former Entertainer of the Year Sandra Bullock nominated South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker for their brave jump to Broadway. "I went and saw The Book of Mormon on Broadway and was so offended I peed my pants twice," says Bullock. "Maybe three times. I lost count I was so offended."

Other standout stars include the cast of the breakout comedy Bridesmaids, Ryan Gosling and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin.

You can see the rest of EW's picks when their Entertainers of the Year issue hits stores Dec. 9.

7 Holiday traditions from across the world

Posted by Johan

Countries all over the world will be celebrating the holidays together in spirit. Though many think of the holiday season as a menagerie of red and green, yuletide caroling and Santa Claus, other parts of the world have their own rich traditions and celebrations. This makes the holiday season a perfect time to introduce your children to the many cultures of the world.

Menorah

Hanukkah in Israel

Jewish people all over the world observe Hanukkah, but perhaps there is not a more brilliant celebration than in Israel. The eight-day holiday, which lands on different dates in December every year, marks the successful Jewish rebellion over the Greeks. The focal point of celebration is the menorah, a branched candelabrum, and most homes have many. Each night, one candle is lit and gifts are often given to children, games are played and food is enjoyed. Children in Israel even get a week off from school.

St. Lucia Day in Sweden

St. Lucia Day honors a third-century saint on Dec. 13, when girls dress up as "Lucia brides" and wear long white gowns and red sashes. The attire is accompanied with a wreath of burning candles on their heads. The girls wake up their families by singing songs and offering coffee.

New Year's Eve in Ecuador

In this South American country, a family dresses up a straw man representing the old year. Family members make a will for the straw man that lists all of their faults. At midnight, they burn the straw man in hopes their own faults disappear, too.

Christmas in France

In France, Christmas is called Noel. A figure called Pere Noel, father of Christmas, makes home visits with gifts. On Christmas Eve, children leave their shoes by a fireplace that will be filled with the gifts. In the morning, they awake to find fruits, nuts and small toys. Nearly every home has a Nativity Scene, which serves as the focal point of decoration and celebration, just as the Christmas tree does in U.S. homes.

Omisoka in Japan

In Japan, Omisoka, or New Year's Eve, is the second most important holiday of the year, following New Year's Day, the start of a new beginning. Japanese families gather for a late dinner around 11 p.m., and at midnight, many make visits to a shrine or temple. In many homes, there is a cast bell that is struck 108 times, symbolizing desires believed to cause human suffering.

Kwanzaa in the United States

Kwanzaa is a weeklong celebration honoring African-American culture. It was first celebrated in 1966 and is one of the fastest growing holidays. A Kwanzaa celebration often includes singing, drumming and a selection of readings such as the African Pledge or parts of African history.

Ta Chiu in Hong Kong

Those in Hong Kong pray to the gods and ghosts of their ancestors asking that they will fulfill wishes for the next year. Priests read aloud the names of every person living at the celebration and attach a list of names to a paper horse and set it on fire. The smoke carries the names up to the Gods and the living will be remembered.

Hilary Swank explains her Chechnya party foul

Posted by Johan

Hilary Swank says that whole messy business with the President of Chechnya really wasn't her fault. Read on to see why.

Stars can get paid a pretty penny to show up at a party and Hilary Swank is no different. The problem is that sometimes those parties are a very bad idea, as the Oscar winner found out when it came to light that the party Swank attended was a thinly-veiled birthday bash/propaganda celebration for controversial Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov.

Hilary Swank

The New Year's Eve star tried to do damage control by firing her reps -- after she herself was dumped by her PR firm -- but she is still smarting over the error in judgment. She explained how it all went down to Gotham magazine.

Hilary Swank "deeply regrets" partying with Chechen bad guy >>

"In this case, a Turkish real estate company invited me to help promote peace by celebrating the rebuilding of a war-torn city and meeting people who were rebuilding their lives," she told the mag.

"That's how it was presented to me and I thought, 'Absolutely, yes.' When I was there, I was asked to wish the president a happy birthday and I did."

As for the claim by the Human Rights Foundation that they warned Swank that the prez is a nasty dude, she says those words never reached her.

Hilary Swank talks "regret and shame" over Chechnya scandal >>

"Shame on me for not having researched the trip more fully, but I didn't know President Kadyrov's record. Human rights organizations had tried to warn me, but those warnings weren't shared with me. The things that have been written about me in the press are painful because they are totally contradictory to who I am. It's on me for having gone and I regret it.

"Believe me, I'm never again accepting an invitation before making sure I have all the information I need."

Tell us: Is Hilary Swank truly contrite or passing the buck?
