Nyuk! Three Stooges trailer debuts

Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk! Peter and Bobby Farrelly have released the first teaser trailer of The Three Stooges, a revamped comedy based on the classic slapstick shorts of the same name.

Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk! We're getting a sneak peek at the Farrelly Brothers-directed Three Stooges movie.

And we're still trying to decide whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Peter and Bobby Farrelly first announced plans to bring a film inspired by the original Stooges shorts to the silver screen back in 2008. The project originally tapped comedy king Jim Carrey and Oscar winners Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro as the favorites to play the classic comedy trio comprised of Larry, Moe and Curly.

The big names bailed on the film and we’ve ended up with Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos as the bumbling brothers instead.

Oh -- with a guido or two added in for good measure.

The set of the Three Stooges movie, which also stars Sofia Vergara, Kate Upton and Jennifer Hudson, had a few extra stooges running around after The Farrellys invited Jersey Shore stars Snooki, JWOWW, The Situation, Sammi and Ronnie to make cameo appearances in the film.

The trailer, which runs for roughly two minutes, opens with the trio being dropped off as babies in front of an orphanage. The rest of the trailer features other classic Three Stooges gags and quotes.

The full film is being divided into three half-hour shorts. The plot will see the trio left as newborns outside an orphanage and follow them into adulthood. Take a peek at the official synopsis:

"Left on a nun's doorstep, Larry, Curly and Moe grow up finger-poking, nyuk-nyuking and woo-woo-wooing their way to uncharted levels of knuckleheaded misadventure. Out to save their childhood home, only The Three Stooges could become embroiled in an oddball murder plot… while also stumbling into starring in a phenomenally successful TV reality show."

Joining the newly-slimmed-down JHud as a nun in the movie is Glee’s Jane Lynch. The Emmy winner will appear as Mother Superior of the orphanage where the Stooges grew up.

Curb Your Enthusiasm actor Larry David rounds out the cast.

Larry, Curly and Moe hit theaters April 13, 2012.
