Combine literary heroine with edgy, deconstructed clothes and what do you get? The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo for H&M Collection.
The collection – in stores Dec. 14 – is comprised of 30 pieces inspired by Lisbeth Salander's dark look in the film.
"It's definitely more of an edgy kind of collection," TGWTDT costume designer Trish Summerville said earlier this fall. "I hope what I'm conveying with the collection is anybody who can shop at H&M, being female, can go in and find a piece to go with their wardrobe. I hope [there's] something in there that can appeal to anyone."
We think she's right. Actress Rooney Mara wears clothes are dark, edgy and moody in the film – and each would work when mixed with other, more traditional pieces in your wardrobe. We're already thinking of ways we can pair the grey pants with a loose-fitting sweater or flowy top.
What we're not into? The ripped top – we do that just fine on our own, thankyouverymuch.
Salandar and H&M: A natural connection
Fans of the book know the connection between Salandar and H&M, so the collection was a no-brainer as a marketing tool for the film.
"In the second book, The Girl Who Plays With Fire, once she has money, she goes to H&M and has a shopping spree. So it plays really nicely hand-in-hand," Summerville added. "It’s extremely relevant because we do use pieces of clothing from H&M . It’s very much real to what the Salander character. We didn’t go off the deep end and do gowns or anything."
We have to say the red fitted jacket is our favorite piece, judging from the photos. We'll have to wait and see what it actually looks like when the clothes hit H&M stores on Dec. 14.
