Dunia Kesehatan Xlangkah Lebih Maju dengan Internet

Peradaban manusia dibagi menjadi zaman prasejarah dan sejarah dengan ‘tulisan’ sebagai pembatasnya. Kali ini saya membaginya menjadi zaman prainternet dan internet dengan World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) yang diperkenalkan oleh Sir Timothy John Barners-Lee sebagai tonggaknya.

Disadari atau tidak, internet telah memberi pengaruh besar pada peradaban manusia. Peradaban manusia berubah semakin cepat setelah mengenal internet. Bila zaman prasejarah memerlukan waktu ratusan tahun, dan awal-awal sejarah memerlukan waktu puluhan tahun, maka internet membuatnya menjadi lebih cepat. Internet telah mengubah cara manusia dalam berkomunikasi, bersosialisasi, mencari informasi, mengikuti perkembangan trend, dan juga perkembangan dunia kesehatan.

Ilmu kedokteran selalu berkembang seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi. Penelitian-penelitian dilakukan untuk menjawab teka-teki kehidupan yang maha besar dan dipublikasikan dalam bentuk jurnal kedokteran. Sebelum adanya internet, jurnal-jurnal tersebut dicetak dan dipublikasi di majalah kemudian dikirimkan ke berbagai negara. Selanjutnya, jurnal tersebut diterjemahkan ke bahasa lokal, lalu dikirim ke dokter-dokter di seluruh daerah. Bisa dibayangkan betapa lambatnya aliran arus informasi. Bahkan bisa jadi ketika informasi tersebut sudah sampai ke dokter, sudah ditemukan penelitian lain yang lebih baru dan mutakhir.

Bagi dokter, internet membuka gerbang informasi seluas-luasnya. Kini dokter dengan mudah mencari informasi yang valid, dan memperbaharuinya. Melalui situs online jurnal kedokteran dokter tinggal memilih topik yang diinginkan, mengunduhnya, lalu dapat membacanya kapan saja. Mengenal internet jelas membuat dokter menjadi “Xlangkah Lebih Maju“.

Tidak hanya dokter, pasien pun kini semakin melek internet untuk masalah kesehatan. Sudah bukan zamannya pasien hanya manut instruksi dokter. Pasien jauh lebih kritis dan terlebih dahulu mencari informasi mengenai kesehatannya di internet sebelum konsultasi ke dokter. Dalam beberapa kesempatan saya sering mendapatkan pasein berkata, “Dok, saya sempat searching penyakit saya di internet. Bahkan saya menemukan komunitas penyakit saya ini di internet. Katanya ada terapi terbaru bla bla bla…”. Apa jadinya kalau dokter tidak mau mengupdate diri via internet dan hanya mengandalkan informasi konvensional?

Hubungan dokter-pasien juga berkembang dengan adanya internet, melalui jejaring sosial sebagai medianya. Update informasi dan konsultasi online melalui blog atau twitter akan membuat hubungan dokter-pasien semakin baik.

Tidak cukup sampai di sana. Kemajuan teknologi mobile yang memanfaatkan internet juga memberi pengaruh pada dunia kesehatan. Belakangan yang populer adalah telemedicine, dimana dengan video call dokter dapat berkomunikasi dengan pasien, melakukan pemeriksaan sederhana, sehingga rujukan maupun penanganan awal dapat diberikan, seperti misalnya video di bawah ini:
