Jason Lee is back -- and stranded on an island to boot -- with his three favorite furry little pop singers in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-wrecked.

Alvin and the Chipmunks

Jason Lee returns for his third installment in the Alvin and the Chipmunks series as the one guy who knows how to put up with these singing tree creatures and their amazing little voices.

Who says they’re hard to put up with? They do. Known for their childlike antics , their manager Dave, played by Jason Lee, tells the chipmunks to grow up or ship out. They take the latter option, to some extent, and find themselves stranded on a tropical island in the middle of the ocean.

Chipmunks who hate the outdoors

Why would it be a problem for chipmunks to be stranded in the wilderness? They are animals, right? Yes, they're animals, but these guys have been out of trees so long, they've kind of lost their roots.

Left with nothing but street smarts and a whole lotta vocal cords to go around, the dynamic trio, Alvin, Simon and Theodore -- accompanied by three spunky female singers Eleanor, Jeanette and Brittany -- must try to survive on the island alone until Dave comes to rescue them.

If he ever comes...

Alvin and the Chipmunks

When Alvin realizes his juvenile antics might be too much for Dave, the chipmunks start to wonder if they will be rescued at all.

Dave, on the other hand, is nothing but worried about his fury little friends. But unfortunately for him, he’s stuck on the other side of the island with his archenemy Ian, played by comedian David Cross, who has some of the funniest lines in the movie. Did we mention he’s wearing a chicken suit the entire time? You have to see it to believe it.

Sing your way to civilization

Things get stranger -- and a little more interesting -- when the chipmunks run into Zoe, played by Jenny Slate of Saturday Night Live and HBO’s Bored to Death. She’s been stranded on the island in a bit of a Tom-Hanks-Castaway-meets-Lord-of-the-Flies fury for almost a decade. Least to say, she isn’t fazed by seeing talking chipmunks who can sing their way out of any problem.

With lots of hilarious dance sequences and great vocals, the musical numbers make up for the rather thin plot. With a tone similar to other animated-live-action hybrid films like Russell Brand’s Hop and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, this movie gives adults some time with their favorite My Name Is Earl actor and children time with their favorite singing chipmunks.

Celebrity voices include Justin Long as Alvin, Amy Poehler as Eleanor, Anna Faris as Jeanette and Christina Applegate as Brittany. If you liked the first two chipmunk movies, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, don't miss seeing these spunky little singers try to survive life in the wilderness.

Bottom line: If you like Jason Lee, booty-shaking tree critters and the voices of Anna Faris and Amy Poehler, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-wrecked is a cute family comedy full of music and laughs.

The Notebook: On Broadway? It's coming...

Author Nicholas Sparks has revealed that he's in the process of creating a musical based on his hit novel, The Notebook. Will Ryan Gosling reprise his sexy role?

Can you imagine Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams singing through The Notebook story on stage? Well, it's happening — the popular romance is becoming a Broadway musical!

The Notebook is coming to Broadway

"We’re still in development of this process," author Nicholas Sparks revealed on CBS' Early Show while promoting his new book, The Best of Me. "Obviously The Notebook is going to be some sort of musical and a lot of fun to be getting involved in that process, too."

Sparks and his creative team have been working on the story for a couple of years now, though he's not yet sure who will star in the lead roles. After all, we're pretty sure Gosling and McAdams are too busy with their film careers to reprise their roles.

"Gosh, I don't know," Sparks added about his dream cast. "Someone who can sing!"

However, Sparks has complete faith in his team to create a script and cast that will be a hit with fans of the film.

"The best way that I've always found, and it's what I've done in Hollywood, or whether it's working with the publishers that I've worked with for a long time, is to work with people that you really trust who understand what it's about and they want to take that and mold it into something new," he said of his creative process.

There's been a lot of talk lately about the 2004 film — Gosling recently revealed how he got the role in the film.

"The director, Nick Cassavetes, called me to meet him at his house," the self-depreciating actor told British magazine Company. "When I got there, he was standing in his back yard, and he looked at me and said, 'I want you to play this role because you're not like the other young actors out there in Hollywood. You're not handsome, you're not cool, you're just a regular guy who looks a bit nuts.'"

Pretty sure about 10 million women would disagree with that assessment, Nick.

Movie review: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Get your hottie fix with action, comedy and a game of wits as Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. take on Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Sherlock Holmes

I know I’m a girl, and I’m not supposed to like action movies, but I absolutely went gaga over the first Sherlock Holmes. Gritty, witty and full of close-up shots of Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr., let’s just say I rented that one more than once.

So, I’m a fan. And as a fan, I was expecting to be completely disappointed by the sequel to a movie I loved in so many ways. I mean how could number two have the same great story, tense mystery, sexiness and swagger of the first one?

It most likely couldn’t. Sequels never bode well for true fans. They never hold up to the magic of the first film, when audiences get to fall in love with the heroes of a story we are discovering for the first time.

So I went into Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows a skeptic, thinking they better bring it or I’m hanging up my love of these two dudes .

So much better the second time around!

The theater went dark, and the film started and that’s when I was taken, completely taken, on an insanely fun roller coaster ride of intricate plot, witty dialogue and crime solving force with my two favorite detectives, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson . They did it! The second Sherlock Holmes is ten times better than the first.

Sherlock Holmes

If you need a refresher -- or if you’ve never read the stories by Arthur Conan Doyle -- the evil, villainous Professor Moriarty is Sherlock Holmes’ biggest adversary. The first film plays out its drama with a faceless Moriarty behind the plot. This time we get to meet him in person. Performed by Jared Harris of Mad Men and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Moriarty is just as clever as Holmes, which makes every move even more brilliant than the last.

So, the question remains, can Holmes outsmart Moriarty before his plans to eradicate the city of its useful politicians grow into more than just a working attempt at controlling the state of peace? Things could get ugly if this guy gets any ideas about starting a global war.

The gypsy with the excellent shot

In order to stop the plot, Holmes and Watson go underground with the help of a French gypsy woman, played beautifully by newcomer Noomi Rapace, the Swedish born actress who has made a name for herself playing the lead in the original adaptations of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire

Sherlock Holmes

French gypsy? Does that mean we get to go to Paris? Mai, oui!

If you loved director Guy Ritchie’s interpretation of the unpredictable, yet charming 19th century London in the first film, you’ll adore his spin on Paris. Montmartre, The Opera, Notre Dame and Pont Neuf all make a delightful appearance.

Nice casting, Guy!

Although the chemistry of Downey Jr. and Law steal almost every scene, they aren't without a supporting cast who can hold their own. Rachel McAdams reprises her role as Irene Adler, Holmes’ estranged love interest. Kelly Reilly of Pride & Prejudice and Above Suspicion plays Watson’s shrewd fiance, and British comedian Stephen Fry from V for Vendetta and Alice in Wonderland makes a quirky yet loveable appearance as Mycroft, Holmes’ brother. Fry brings wit, style and some rather good chuckles to his character especially when drinking his morning tea stark naked.

If you like the first Sherlock Holmes or films with action and intrigue like Ocean's ElevenSnatch or Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, you’ll love this.  Let’s just say, Guy Ritchie can direct my movie any day. Sorry, Madonna. We heart Sherlock Holmes.

Bottom line: If Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. bring a flutter to your heart, you don’t want to miss the gritty, clever and truly action-packed mystery that is Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Sacha Baron Cohen slams Kardashians in The Dictator trailer

Sacha Baron Cohen is back in an oh-so-wrong, yet oh-so-funny take on the world of hilariously despicable political bad guys. Watch the new trailer for The Dictator!

The Dictator official poster

All aboard the Kardashian Basher Express! In the last month, a string of stars has lined up to slam the Kardashian family in the press -- and now someone is taking the insults to the big screen.

Sacha Baron Cohen is well-known for his no holds barred brand of humor, and now TV's reality royalty is facing the sharp end of his humor stick. In the new trailer for The Dictator, Cohen and costar Megan Fox take aim at the much-maligned fam -- and the results are, predictably, hilarious.

The Kardashians are "f**king idiots" >>

The movie, a satirical mockumentary based on an anonymously published book Zabibah and the King , focuses on Cohen as General Admiral Alladeen, the dictator in question of the Republic Of Wadiya.

Also starring Anna Faris, John C. Reilly and Ben Kingsley, the film will "tell the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed" according to Paramount Pictures.

Jonah Hill's love/hate relationship with the Kardashians >>

In the scene that is sure to make Kris Jenner throw an absolute fit, we see Cohen in bed with Fox, who trades sex for gifts. When Cohen tries to give her a ruby for services rendered, she incredulously asks, "Is this a joke? Am I a Kardashian?"

"Of course not," he replies. "You're much less hairy."

Oh, snap.

Star couples who are happily unmarried

For celebs who have already been married, it's been reported that the divorce rate of second marriages is even higher than that of first marriages. The famous couples that seem to last the longest are the ones who have not gotten married. Are they looking at their relationships more realistically than others in Tinseltown? Does a marriage in the spotlight complicate things for everyone involved?

With more divorces occurring than weddings in Hollywood as of late, maybe taking a walk down the aisle for a celebrity is like walking down a plank. Distractions by the press, paparazzi and attractive co-stars on TV and movie sets can make it very difficult sometimes for a famous couple to concentrate on each other and their marriage.

Many well-known couples who are not married seem just as close on red carpets as those that are. When pictures are taken of them with their children, they look happy and content. Maybe being married just adds extra pressure that neither celeb needs. It may have all started with actors Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy who were together for 26 years and never married. Here are six current celebrity couples who reflect that same lifestyle and are still going strong.

Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell

At almost three decades together, Goldie and Kurt might be the poster children for not being married, but remaining together and happy. They met on the set of the move Swing Shift in 1983 and have not looked back. Goldie told the Australian magazine Woman's Day, "I already feel devoted and isn't that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring and loving, then we're fine."

Matthew McConaughey & Camilla Alves

The actor and Brazilian model met in 2006 and have been going strong ever since. While they have chosen not to be married, they have decided on becoming parents together. Alves and McConaughey brought a handsome son, Levi, and a beautiful daughter, Vida, into the world. If they ever decided to get married, I wonder if McConaughey would wear a shirt under his tuxedo?

Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis

Hollywood's bad boy and consummate bachelor finally met his love match in French actress Vanessa Paradis. In British GQ, Depp talked about meeting Paradis, “I knew at that moment I was done. It was like – OK – it’s over [single life].” When Depp is not acting in box office blockbusters like Pirates of the Caribbean, he is often found in France with Paradis and their two children. France is full of romance and love, so it clearly keeps their fire burning.

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt

The Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-stars have yet to become Mr. and Mrs. Pitt after six years together. Pitt divorced Jennifer Aniston after four and a half years of marriage and appears happy with his current relationship with Jolie and his role as a father. Pitt recently told Parade magazine, "One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom. She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I'm so happy to have her."

Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham

According to the press, Oprah has been on, off and on again with her long-time boyfriend Stedman. One of the most successful women in the world, she is focused on her career and helping others, and one would assume her time is extremely limited. Since 1986, she has found the time for author and businessman Stedman, but they never married. They were actually engaged to be married in 1992, but it never ended up happening.
